How to create a group mailing list on an iPad

I worked this out when trialing a group email app, and quickly worked out what it did. It so simple, it’s stupid!

  1. Create a contact and in the name field, type your group name – i.e. ‘family’
  2. In the email field, type in all the emails address for your group. The email field will accept multiple email address.
  3. Click/tap [Done] when all the email address are entered
  4. Compose email.
  5. Insert the name of the group in the ‘To’, ‘CC’, or ‘BCC’ field. The group name should appear as you’re typing. Only the name of the group will appear, but it will contain all the email address.
  6. Type your email.
  7. Click/tap [Send]. Everyone in your group  should receive you’re email.

For existing group mailing lists on your Mac or PC, conversion is quite simple.

  1. Compose a new email.
  2. In the ‘To’, ‘CC’, or ‘BCC’ field, type the name of your group. The name and possibly the email of each individual will now appear.
  3. Select all the contacts (Mac: [COMMAND] + [A]. PC: [CONTROL] + [A])
  4. Copy the contacts (Mac: [COMMAND] + [C]. PC: [CONTROL] + [C])
  5. Create a contact and in the name field, type your group name – i.e. ‘family’
  6. In the email field, paste all the emails address for your group (Mac: [COMMAND] + [C]. PC: [CONTROL] + [C]). The email field will accept multiple email address.
  7. Click/tap [Done] when all the email address are entered.
  8. You can now compose your email as per the first set of instructions.

I told you it was simple!

Yahoo! Radio – DUMPED!

For months I’ve been happy listening to Yahoo! Radio which you can custom to your own music tastes. I was a little upset when Yahoo! Radio started with the ads. I was encourage to subscribe to LaunchCAST+ which I would’ve been happy to do, except it wouldn’t let me because I’m 0utside the US. Hmm! Now, Yahoo! has decided to put a limit on monthly usage with the same deal with LaunchCAST+ – can’t subscribe because I’m outside the US.

I did a search and found Jango. Another online radio station you can customise. So far it’s been completely free, and no ads. It’s a little more fiddly than Yahoo! to customers, but after you name your first artist, it goes and suggests others you might like. I also think the sound quality is better.

Older versions of applications website

I downloaded the latest version of Skype and found it was crashing Internet Explorer. When I discovered I didn’t have a copy of the old version, I went looking for an older version and discovered this site:

www.oldapps.com

Apart from security issues, it beats me why software companies send out updates when their software is working fine and no new features have been added, especially when an update causes more problems then it solves. This website might come in handed for when your next upgrade turns out to be a downgrade!

The older version of Skype is working quite happily with Internet Explorer and is working fine – apart from the fact the ring tone sounds more like an engaged tone.
